Re-stringing Hand-knotted Pearl Necklaces
Are your grandmother’s pearls knotted on a silk thread that looks like it’s unravelling or discoloured and you want to give them a fresh new look?
With their original clasp, I can re-knot them for you using new silk thread and new bullion (thread protector). I will also gently clean them, but I cannot remove/repair scratches.
Hand-knotting is CAD$2.00 per inch plus CAD$5.00 for bullion; cost for a new clasp is dependent on the metal requested (cost ranges from CAD$5.00 to CAD$10.00). A 15” strand would cost CAD$35.00 starting price. If a Sterling silver or gold-filled clasp is requested, those are an extra CAD$5-$10.
Stringing can be done on nylon coated stringing wire or on silk thread. Stringing for a 15-18” strand costs a flat rate of CAD$1.50 per inch with high quality base metal (gold alloy or silver alloy plated brass) findings included (CAD$22.50-$49.50). Sterling silver/gold-filled add an extra CAD$5-10.00.
